Happy Monday! I’ve got a busy week ahead and am already looking forward to Friday when my 3 exams are over with! It’s also the Fryeburg Fair week, so we’ve begun our Fair food extravaganza with some fries with extra vinegar and salt.

I helped with parking at the Fair (aka did my flash cards while sitting in the sun & people watching).

Flashback to Friday night with homemade Lentil & Beef Minestrone before Alex’s brother, sister-in-law, & nephew came to stay with us for the night!

We went out to the basin to kayak on Saturday and it was so beautiful there! It was perfect weather and the leaves were just starting to change.

We packed a picnic and ate it along the shoreline. Gotta love a good pb&j and carrots with guacamole.

We also celebrated our one year engagaversay and almost 5 year anniversary!

And I got up early to catch the end of the Berlin Marathon. What a finish by both sides! That race is definitely on my bucket list someday.

Happy Monday! This weekend FLEW by for me and I have a feeling that this week will go by just as fast for me. My schedule is pretty packed these days and I’m VERY thankful when I’m able to get out for my runs because it really is just 'ME’ time. I don’t have to think about anything else or anyone else and can just let my mind wander (which is much needed considering how I had my first exam of the semester yesterday)! The cats were no help to my at-home exam.

I’ve also become very good at consuming caffeine at the early afternoon. I know, I know I shouldn’t be doing it, but my Tuesdays are crazy-busy and with normally 5 hours of sleep from the night before and working at the hospital for 8.5 hours -> necessary. I’ve also gotten very good at doing my schoolwork just about anywhere. Ha. Outside the ice rink? No problem. High Schoolers blaring their hip hop music in the background? Easy to still focus.

Very thankful for our kitties who make me laugh everyday.

Saturday mornings 7 miler before the half marathon came with a stunning sunrise. It’s funny how I always have trouble actually GETTING OUT of bed, but never ever regret when I am out there early. It’s my favorite time of day.

IMG_4785.JPG

The race started later than most (9am!), so I didn’t have to get up super early to get in my “warmup” miles. It was also so HOT during the race (we’re back to Summer here with 88* as the high on Saturday). I’ll have my race recap up on the blog for you tomorrow!

Post 20 mile run, we took my Gram mini-golfing for her first time EVER! This course at Pirate’s Cove was crazy-hard and I only managed one hole-in-one?!?

And we closed out the weekend with Brady chasing a bee outside the porch windows.

Anyone else love to mini-golf?

Favorite time for a race to start? -> I really love a 7am start (especially for the marathon)! It feels amazing to be done in time to still catch a good breakfast!

Anyone else an afternoon caffeine consumer?

Happy Monday! I had a great week of running last week and am getting excited for my first 20 miler of the training cycle with a half marathon in there on Saturday. This past weekend we had planned to go camping, but the weather was super rainy and gross on Saturday so we hung around the house instead. I got a bunch of reading done, including this one that’s part of one of my classes.

We got hot cocoa on Saturday at The Met in town. Stella was a fan of the whipped cream!

We took some photos for my social media pages & to update the blog!

We visited another wedding venue option. This one was pretty great and it fit within our budget. Hopefully we can get something finalized shortly!

Brady has been naughtier than ever.

I’ve been rocking my newest Oofos to recover faster post-run!

public.jpeg

And I’ve also been slowing down a bit more on my easy runs! It’s been nice to just enjoy the miles & I think it’s also helped cure my Plantar Fasciitis flare that I had around April/May!

Life Updates Lately

Happy Hump Day! This was the post where I meant for it to come out on Monday and then I thought I could DEFINITELY get it out by Tuesday and well… here we are on Wednesday and it’s finally happening! Life has been super crazy lately which is honestly surprising because I had an entire week ‘off’ from school work; I had grand plans of getting so much done on my blog (revamping it, lots of posts), but in actuality things take way more TIME than I ever imagined! Chores, running, training, etc. I still hope get some more work done here on the blog within the next few days, but who knows! Sometimes life is funny like that- your priorities shift all at once and sometimes they really put things into perspective. SO let’s catch up shall we?

I’m still in marathon training mode for my next upcoming races (find them HERE!) and am feeling all sorts of inspiration from previous podcasts that I’ve listened to from kick-a$$ guests and just feeling like my fitness may be finally coming together (thanks to those cooler temperatures). Don’t get me wrong, it’s still really HARD to train for any race distance, but I’m kinda sorta loving it.

I’m also really really loving slower mornings with some coffee and my NEED Mt. Washington Road Race fleece blanket (they give each of the finishers one of these when they cross that line!).

IMG_4380.JPG

I’m also really loving on this guy lately. He cuddles with me so often (especially at night) and it’s super hard when I have to leave for the day to go to work or school.

IMG_4465.JPG

I’m also really into Home Projects lately! I redid an old window and turned it into a chalkboard. We used spraypaint chalk and then sanded and painted the trim with paint that we had used on other projects. It came out looking much better than I imagined and was also quite a bit easier to make than I imagined!

IMG_4400.JPG

I also began biking a few weeks ago! I’m by no means an expert, but there’s something really exhilarating about being able to go farther and faster than I can if I’m running!

IMG_4421.JPG

I’m trying to get in as much reading this week as I can and snagged these two from the library (bonus: I can now ride my bike to the library!).

IMG_4439.jpg

I’m also really enjoying being able to run along the Ocean (it’s right down the street from where I take my classes!). There’s something so soothing about that Ocean breeze and dirt-packed trails.

IMG_4414.JPG

Also really into Oatmeal again (I think that’s because it’s starting to feel a bit ‘Fall-like’ outside). I love customizing the Quick Rolled Oats in the mornings to whatever I’m feeling. Sometimes I throw in beet powder and cocao, other times I throw in peanut butter and maple syrup!
