7 Things

Happy Monday! I had the weekend off, which was SO nice, but also- time went by way too quickly. Can I please have a few more days off? I would also really love being woken up every morning by Alex saying that blueberry waffles are waiting for me downstairs.

We got our date night in our home gym Saturday night. I got in some strength and yoga, while Alex got in some hiking πŸ₯Ύ

I got in my long run Saturday too before my Physical Therapy Appointment (Hilary McCloy is amazing if you’re in the area and looking fir a PT) and all 10.8 miles were on the treadmill. I love our Nordictrack and think that there will be many more long runs together in our future. I also followed the iFit Boston Marathon course, which is so inspiring and makes me miss racing so much!

I saw this on Instagram the other day and I feel seen. This is 100% me after working a few night shifts in a row and trying to adjust back to normal sleep hours.

We’ve started playing bird noises from Alexa during the day for our cats and Maple loves it.

30 minutes of cycling, 1.5 mile snowshoe, PT exercises, and an easy 5 mile run to round out the weekend (also currently eating Brownie Sundaes for dessert as I type this out).

Technically it’s my weekend now, but I’ll bring you an update from the past few days since I’ve been working so much lately (7 days with only one day off). Very grateful to have had a bit of time with this little one lately.

Once in awhile, we splurge and get bagels at the grocery store. Cream cheese & β€˜everything but the’ is one of my favorites.

14 miles on the treadmill last week and still LOVING it. Alex has been on it almost everyday (he’s really been enjoying the iFit hikes that they have). We also invested in the mat that goes underneath the treadmill-> it’s SO QUIET NOW! πŸŽ‰

We got a crazy heat-wave the past few days and it felt SO WEIRD to be wearing shorts & a t-shirt in November?!?!

I’ve been working both days & nights, so my body is all sorts of confused. It felt really weird to be eating soup for my β€˜dinner’ at 8:30 in the morning. I guess that’s the Nurse-life though!

Since I’ve got a longer commute to work (while we save to buy a home), I’ve been staying in Air BnB’s / hotels in the surrounding areas. While it certainly keeps things interesting, it’s also been so much fun to explore new areas by running!

I β€˜ran’ the first part of the Boston Marathon with my treadmill (iFit) feature last week during my long run and WOW did it inspire me to keep chasing that Unicorn Dream even more?!? Cue: dreaming of all the potential Marathons in my future. 🀩

Happy Monday! I have a few more days off until I work again and I’ve really been loving the extra time to run. I ran on my treadmill yesterday (it’s just so beautiful I always want to be on it!) and ran along the Ku’ai (sp?) Half Marathon course. This just made me want to go there even more.

I also did a 30 minute Pop Ride from the Peloton App on our bike trainer and it kicked my butt. So much so that refueling post-run & ride & strength was yogurt straight from the jar and a giant glass of Nuun.

I tried to find some of those Pumpkin pre-packaged Sugar Cookies from the grocery store, but they must have been all sold out (or maybe they don’t make them anymore?!). So, I made a batch of Vegan Peanut Butter cookies. They are so good (recipe is on my Pinterest page).

This was the most amount of celebrating Halloween as we did this year. Very thankful that I still kept my old skating costumes from 12 years ago and that they still fit.

Very excited that it’s Bath season again. Also- having an awesome claw foot bath tub is a must in our next home (I’ve always wanted one)!

Happy Monday! I’m all over the place with starting a full-time work schedule. Happy. Sad. Nervous. Excited. A bit overwhelmed. I know it will get better, but still feeling all the feels. At least I had a beautiful 10 mile run yesterday.

Also ran on our treadmill Saturday afternoon and obsessed with the iFit feature where we can run on various trails around the world. I did the second half of the Great Smoky Mountains Half Marathon with Sally McRae and it made me miss racing even more 😭

Our lawn was a fun cleanup Saturday. We finally found some green grass after raking up all those leaves. Thankful for my mom and her husband who came over to help us out.

Happy Monday! We got an amazing delivery to kick-off the weekend 🀩

Our new Nordictrack came in and it took us a few hours to get it inside the house and set it up (the delivery drivers had to drop it outside the home because of COVID). It wasn’t too bad (we got it all inside before it started pouring rain) to carry everything in with two of us (thankfully Alex is very strong) and put it together. We also celebrated our 6th date-aversary with dinner take-out from our favorite little Italian restaurant-Vitos. I’m really just a huge fan because of their cannolis (although everything is honestly spectacular).

And yes, we watched Jeopardy while eating dinner. Normally we eat at the table, but splurged and watched TV with our dinner. I got a new iPhone Saturday (11 Pro) and wow, are the photos just amazing. I really feel like a professional photographer when I snap a photo in portrait mode πŸ˜‚

I’m almost finished with Running Home by Katie Arnold and wow, does this book really want me to run another ultramarathon. How she describes the longer distance races is exactly how I feel.

Got our fill of Apple Cider donuts on Thursday (we went to the Apple Orchard again with my Grandmother this time) and I’m just really wishing October will never end.

They also taste really good after a long-run (FYI πŸ™ƒ). We got out Sunday morning for a hike out to Rattlesnake Pool near Evans Notch. We didn’t see any rattlesnakes (thankfully), but this gorge was amazing.

Finished the weekend with my usual Sunday afternoon 8-mile loop and Core Strength with the Peloton App (just finished the 4-week core challenge!). It’s just a sea of orange leaves around here and I love it. I start my new job today, so feeling excited/ nervous/ ready to get through the week-long orientation and into a groove of 12-hour shifts.
