5 Photos From Our Weekend & What I'm Doing On My Runs To Help With Knee Pain!
Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend! We started our weekend off (is it just me or doesn't it always feel like the weekend really starts on Saturday morning versus Friday night?) Saturday morning with Blueberry pancakes and then I headed out for an easy 6 mile run down by the lake. IT WAS HOT! Even with just a sports bra, I could still feel the heat (it was already over 80* before 11am?!).
We headed to Fort Collins shortly after I finished my run. It's around a 3 hour drive from us. We originally planned to camp along our drive, but the high was expected to be around 100* (!!) and the low in the 70s so we decided that was just too hot to camp and booked a hotel in Fort Collins. It was so nice to just relax Sunday morning and not worry about looking put-together after a night of camping (what we originally planning on doing!). We went out to an awesome brewery Saturday night at Black Bottle Brewery and it was REALLY good! A few of their beers stood out to us, so we decided to get a flight to test them all and the verdict was their red beer was the best (it had hints of raspberry)! We also got their artichoke appetizer to start and it was delicious.
Sunday morning started pretty early (before I had to head to the ice rink) with a Dunkin Donuts stop! My skater took both of her tests and passed (yay!) and we were done by 10am to finish up a few more errands before we headed home. We stopped at Sierra Trading Post and I got the cutest pullover (sometimes that place has great finds and other times I feel like there's nothing) top. We also went to Trader Joe's to stock up on Joe Joe's, Pretzel bagels (SOOO good), and Orange Chicken!
We got home by 3:30 and I headed out for my run shortly after that (had to wait for a thunderstorm to pass by)!
The one thing that I've started working on while I'm running is ENGAGING my GLUTES more (anyone else doing this)?!? I read on Janae's blog how she think about holding a $100 bill between her butt cheeks and I've found that helps A LOT! I did this yesterday on my run during my (unintentional) hill repeats and had ZERO knee pain! I really feel like if we focus on our form, we'll not only be able to stay injury-free, but decrease any current pains we have going on.
How was your weekend?!?
Favorite thing at Trader Joe's?
What do you think about (in regards to your running form) when running?
