Monday Motivation: Becoming The Best Version of YOU
Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend full of activities that make you happy and surrounded by people who bring you joy! We planned to go backpacking out in the Flat Tops Wilderness on Saturday and made it to the trailhead, but then it started downpouring...then hailing....then lightning...then it dropped down to 50* at 1pm! We waited almost an hour and the weather continued to look less-than-promising, so we ended up calling it and grabbed some pizza and ice cream and had a nice little date night at home (while renting Black Panther.. which was absolutely AMAZING)! Seriously- if you haven't seen it yet, it really is so so good. I've never gotten *too much* into the Marvel series, but after seeing both the Avengers and Black Panther movies it's making me rethink my decision! Plus, Black Raspberry with Chocolate Chips Talenti Gelato --> absolutely incredible. I forgot how much I love Black Raspberry ice cream!
Something that I've slowly come to realize more (not sure if it's with age/ meditation/ or what), is that there will ALWAYS be something that you're striving for. Whether it's what your next vacation is, where you may move to next, what career you want to chase, what race you want to race, etc.
All along I've been chasing that feeling of contentness, but in actuality --> being completely *content* may never happen. It's funny because I've often heard people say that to be truly "happy" (whatever you definition of happy is) you need to be content with where you are, but I'm not really sure if that's entirely true. I think that having goals/ visions/ future plans keep us motivated, but I also believe that recognizing where we are currently at is important to happiness.
What do you think? Does having goals keep us from being content or should we visualize it as being content and goals are something *extra*?
Favorite flavor of ice cream? --> I'm on a black raspberry kick right now, but also really love something with reese's peanut butter cups or smore's flavor!
One thing you did this weekend that you're still dreaming about? --> We spontaneously jumped in the Reservoir yesterday afternoon (with clothes on) because it was so hot and it felt unbelievable!
