Weekend Recap & Sleep? What is that?
Happy Monday! Ugh. Monday hit ME HARD this morning. After a crazy non-typical weekend and trouble falling asleep last night ==> I need all.the.coffee.today. How was your weekend?!? Anyone do anything fun?
Let’s start with my Friday afternoon—> I got out of work at 3pm and had already picked up a few grocery necessities before I went to work (cereal/ pop tarts/ gatorade/ coconut water/ ice cream…all the good stuff for POST RUN!) so I headed straight home. I slept in Friday morning until ~6:45am which felt AMAZING. Once I got home I had a small bowl of cereal & drew an Epsom Salt Bath to relax my muscles. I was able to take a short 30 minute nap post-bath which was perfect.
I had planned to have a few hours of relaxing before I had to leave for RRR100 pacing duties (I anticipated getting there ~7:30pm), but our Brady kitty had other plans…. Our kittens somehow ended up popping the screen out of our lower bedroom window and escaped! Maple was the perfect kitty and stayed right on our deck (they’re both indoor kitties because of the amount of wildlife we have in our area - it’s just too dangerous for them), but Brady was completely MIA. We spent a good hour of searching for him and then I had to start rushing around the house getting ready to leave! It was super hectic and I had ~3 raviolis for dinner. Luckily, as I was putting my sneakers on Alex found him! I was so happy and relieved. I headed off for my pacing duties and started around 10:45pm (later than originally anticipated) and finished at 7am!
That was the first full all-nighter I’ve ever done and my body had no idea what day/time it was for the rest of the day on Saturday. I got home and took another Epsom Salt bath and took a 3.5 hour nap. I didn’t want to get a full nights sleep during the day because I didn’t think I’d be able to sleep Saturday night, so I got up at 12:30pm and forced myself to stay awake for the remainder of the day (albeight, we mainly just hung around the couch and went to town for a few errands so it wasn’t very taxing).
On Sunday, I slept 11 HOURS and still woke-up feeling all sorts of confused. I felt exhausted, slightly refreshed, and thoroughly sore in very weird places. Ha. We took Stella on a walk down by the lake and checked out the foliage.
Then we got ready for a wedding to go to on Mount Warner (the ski mountain here)! It was SO BEAUTIFUL up there at sunset. The yellow colors were so bright and the ceremony was perfectly simple. Congrats to Kyla & Bobby (Alex was roommates with both of them for a long time many moons ago)! We never got home until 9:45pm so yes, it will be an extra coffee day (especially since my sleep schedule is all over the place these past few days). I’m hoping to get my run in later tonight after work. I know it will be some slow miles after the lack of sleep and crazy elevation gains had on Friday/Saturday (ps. I’ll have a full RRR100 pacing recap tomorrow but Kristen finished 17 minutes before the cut-off and I’m so so so happy for her!!).
