Last Week's Training Rundown- 7/2 - 7/8
Happy Humpday! We made it to Wednesday and only 2 more days until the weekend! I cannot believe that my first ultra 50k is on SATURDAY! I'm not too nervous (mainly just excited), but am also already looking forward to training for Rock 'n Roll Las Vegas Marathon! Anyone ever ran a 50k before- any suggestions?!?
This last week of training went really well- I fit in all of my strength training sessions (3), have continued to use the Headspace Meditation App everyday, and do TWO 30-minute yoga sessions. It's honestly been pretty difficult to not follow a training plan and I'm ready to get back on a schedule! I ran 5 days and swam on one of my two rest days.
Monday, 7/2: 6 mi E @ 10:19 min/mi after work (it was HOT) 137' UP/ 60 minute Barre class during lunch
Tuesday, 7/3: 6 mi total --> 1.5 warm-up @ 10:12 min/mi 123' UP/ 12 x 200 with 200R between sets (:46 / :49 / :51 / :51/ :50 / :49/ :50 / :52 / :50 / :48 / :48 / :45) ; 1.5 mi cool-down @ 10:16. I had to resort to the dirt track at the middle school again and contested with two various groups of people on the track with their dogs not on leashes (ugh), but I'm still happy I was able to negative split these!
Wednesday, 7/4: July 4th! 3 mi E @ 10:32 (it was HOT- I waited until noon to run and that was definitely a mistake) ; 30 minutes of a new strength training routine
Thursday, 7/5: REST DAY/ 20 minutes of swimming ~1/2 mile / 30 minutes of JasYoga Hip Reset
Friday, 7/6: 8 mi E "long run" @ 11:14 min/mi 1, 135' UP - back on the trails for this one and I'm starting to feel more and more comfortable running on single track!
Saturday, 7/7: 30 minutes of strength training / 4 mi E @ 9:42 min/mi 557' UP
Sunday, 7/8: REST DAY/ 30 minutes of JasYoga Sunday Reset Video
TOTAL MILEAGE: 27 miles / 2, 399' elevation gain
What do you most look forward to when following a training schedule? --> the challenge, consistency, and ability to look both back on what I've accomplished and forward to what's ahead!
Favorite amount of days to run? --> I really love running 6 days and having Sundays off as a rest day.
