Training Rundown

Happy Friday! Better late than never-> last weeks training recap! I hit over 40 miles last week- first time since maybe August?!? So I’m calling it a huge win. I didn’t get in as much strength as I would have liked, but 2 times last week and yoga a few times is better than nothing!

Happy Thursday! I took some days off last week from blogging (just really wanted to enjoy my few days off!) and am back. Last weekend we got to go cross-country skiing together at Jackson Ski Touring (they have a million groomed trails) and WOW is skate skiing hard work or what?!? Definitely convinced that cross country skiers are some of the fittest athletes around.

IMG_0127.jpeg

Had Banana Pancakes and of course, I had to have Alexa play ‘Banana Pancakes’ by Jack Johnson (anyone else obsessed with that song in High School?!? I honestly still really like it 😂).

IMG_0122.jpeg

Wore my first-ever crocheted hat! Not too bad for my “first pancake”

IMG_0123.jpeg

Finished this book and it is SO GOOD. One of my favorite fiction books that I’ve read in a while.

IMG_0119.jpeg

Made featherstone nutrition’s Buffalo Mac and Cheese and played some board games (Ticket To Ride)!

IMG_0124.jpeg

Got a new shoe delivery and can’t wait to try out these Clifton 7’s! I had one other pair of Hokas that I literally wore for over 500 miles and almost cried when I had to retire them. Waiting for a dry weather day so I can take them for a spin. Anyone else hate to get new shoes dirty?!

IMG_0129.jpeg

Found a new shoe heater. We’re happy to rent him out free of charge.

Training Rundown

Happy Humpday! Last week I had a solid week of training last week and am excited to keep training. It’s funny how it’s taken me a few weeks of training to get back into the groove. My marathon course was moved to New Hampshire from Massachusetts, which is promising that it might actually happen! It’s still a month and a half away, but is crazy how quickly it’s approaching!

Monday, 2/8: 45 minutes easy in the snow before a night shift!

IMG_0038.jpeg

Tuesday, 2/9: 1 hour of yoga/ PT exercises

IMG_0051.jpeg

Wednesday, 2/10: Lactate Threshold workout- 10 min up/ 3 x 8 min hard (4 min easy)/ 10 min down & 30 mins of strength. Just wasn’t my day for speedwork- didn’t hit any of my paces and was probably 30 seconds slower than the week before. Some days it just isn’t there and that’s OK!

IMG_0063.jpeg

Thursday, 2/11: 13.7 miles for 2:15 long run and 24 minutes of Pilates/ PT Strength work

IMG_0067.jpeg

Friday, 2/12: 1:15 easy recovery miles for a 7 mile long run and 10 minutes indoor cycling, 20 minutes strength, & a cross country ski outing!

IMG_0074.jpeg

Saturday, 2/13: Rest Day!

Sunday, 2/14: 1 hour recovery run~ 5.6 miles

IMG_0081.jpeg

Total Miles: 36

Feeling strong and ready for the week ahead!

Happy Monday! I’m on a 4-day work stretch and am missing this little love so much. Good thing she loves bothering Alex at work (at home) so much.

IMG_5971.jpeg

Big into crockpot meals lately and this Chicken Pot Pie Stew and biscuits recipe was super delicious.

IMG_0070.jpeg

Got in some cross country skiing on Friday afternoon and I ONLY FELL ONCE! I’m pretty terrible at going downhill with my skis (they’re older ones so are quite slick with no edge), so ended up just popping them off when we got to going down hills. Something to work on!

IMG_0077.jpeg

It was also super nice (& a bit scary!) to ski across the lake.

IMG_0079.jpeg

Happy to report that I’m still loving bubble baths after my longer runs. So nice to relax and warmup after a cold workout.

IMG_0069.jpeg

Hoping to get in more time with my indoor trainer in the next few months since I signed up for a triathlon this summer!

IMG_0071.jpeg

Making puppy friends on the run is my favorite. I normally don’t stop my watch when I stop and pet them (unless I’m in a workout) because I’m just out here to relieve stress and have fun!

  • Do you have the day off work today?

  • Do you pause your watch or let it keep going if you stop for a minute or two?

Training Rundown

It’s taken me 3 weeks to finally find a groove in this new training plan, but I’m finally finding it! I always feel like it takes me a few weeks to settle into something new. This last week, I prioritized getting adequate sleep, hydrating more 80-90mL of water (still would like to get closer to a 100, but I’m getting there!), and committing to running outside more. Still doing most of my speedwork on the treadmill (no indoor tracks available/ don’t like dealing with cars when I’m trying to run fast), but also just missing the sunshine outside!

IMG_0021.jpeg

I also made time to get in a long run last week, which I was super excited about. It’s challenging when there are a million things on my to-do list to try to get out for a longer run, but I value that time to myself so much.

Monday, 2/1: 30 minutes of yoga. Had to skip my run because I had little sleep and didn’t feel like running in the dark!

Tuesday, 2/2: 45 minutes easy, 10 minutes of yoga, & PT exercises before work!

IMG_9994.jpeg

Wednesday, 2/3: Lactate Threshold workout: 12 min warmup/ 3 x 6:00 at 6:44 pace (3:00 recovery)/ 12 min cool down & 35 minutes of PT exercises and mobility

IMG_9997.jpeg

Thursday, 2/4: 2 hour long run (12.5 miles) & 30 minutes of PT exercises/ strength

IMG_0022.jpeg

Friday, 2/5: 1:15 easy miles on the treadmill, 10 minutes on the indoor trainer, & 30 minutes of PT exercises/ strength

Saturday, 2/6: 10 minutes PT exercises, 8 min warmup/ 30 minutes at 7:50 pace (with stopping for icy spots or cars included)/ 8 min cool down, & 20 minute snowshoe outside

IMG_0031.jpeg

Sunday, 2/7: 45 minute easy run

IMG_0038.jpeg

Total mileage: 39 miles
