Product Review: OOFOS Project Pink Sport Sandal

Disclaimer: I was given a pair of OOFOS project pink sport sandal from being a Bib Rave Pro in exchange for my honest review.

OK. So you all know that I’m a HUGE OOFOS fan. I wear them all around the house instead of slippers, have a pair to wear outside, and then have my beloved slides to wear when out and about town. I believe that they are an AMAZING company and have 100% helped me get through my previous bouts of Plantar Fasciitis.

One thing that I had been wanting for a while now was a pair of sandals that I could wear with socks in the house. I love my slippers in the winter time, but they never give me enough support. SO, I was super excited to hear that Bib Rave was teaming up with Oofos and these beauties were the sandals for the promotion.

I also really really love that they are giving back with each purchase of a pair of these sandals. They are donating $10 for every pair of Project Pink sandals purchased to Dana Farber Breast Cancer Research.

I only stand by companies that have a great mission and give back and this is a company that I will continue to support. I have five pairs of Oofos and while I love them all, I really REALLY love the sleek look of the black of these and the ability to sport them with socks. I know it sounds weird, but I really need some good support post-long runs and these give me all the support and more.

My only request for this company? Is to make some closed-toe shoes for me to wear at the hospital! I always refer anyone having foot problems to snag a pair of Oofos - they have definitely changed how I walk (they have the craziest amount of support in all the right places), how I view recovery, and helped get me to so many race finish lines! I will ALWAYS pack a post-race bag now and make sure that I have my oofos because they really are that great.

If you aren’t a fan of Oofos, then make sure to go grab yourself a pair and bonus: remember that you can also help give back to Breast Cancer research just by shopping on their website! (maybe go try some on at a store near you and then grab yourself a pair on their website to make sure that your $ gets donated to the Dana Farber Cancer Research!).

Loco Marathon Training RUNdown Week 8: 9/16-9/22

We’re almost a month out from my marathon! I’ve got 2 more 20 milers left on the schedule, then we will be in the taper! It’s crazy to think just how close I am to running my 8th marathon?!? I’ve been really enjoying my own ‘self-made’ training plan this time around and am hoping that it will get me to the start line feeling stronger and more prepared than ever (only time will tell).

This last week was a cut-back week for mileage and I fit in my half marathon by taking a few extra rest days and cross training days instead of running all the miles. It felt good to mentally step-back for a minute, get in a long run in a race-format, and recover well post-race.

Monday, 9/16: 1 mile warmup/ 2 x 3 mile repeats (8:10 & 7:59 avgs)/ 1 mile cool down -> 9 miles total

Tuesday, 9/17: 5 miles easy post-clinical shift

Wednesday, 9/18: strength training & 20 minutes on the bike!

IMG_4770.JPG

Thursday, 9/19: 6 miles easy

Friday, 9/20: Rest day

Saturday, 9/21: 7 miles & 13.13 race miles!

Sunday, 9/22: Rest Day

Total Miles: 40.2 miles

Total elevation: 873’ up

7 Things

Happy Monday! This weekend FLEW by for me and I have a feeling that this week will go by just as fast for me. My schedule is pretty packed these days and I’m VERY thankful when I’m able to get out for my runs because it really is just 'ME’ time. I don’t have to think about anything else or anyone else and can just let my mind wander (which is much needed considering how I had my first exam of the semester yesterday)! The cats were no help to my at-home exam.

I’ve also become very good at consuming caffeine at the early afternoon. I know, I know I shouldn’t be doing it, but my Tuesdays are crazy-busy and with normally 5 hours of sleep from the night before and working at the hospital for 8.5 hours -> necessary. I’ve also gotten very good at doing my schoolwork just about anywhere. Ha. Outside the ice rink? No problem. High Schoolers blaring their hip hop music in the background? Easy to still focus.

Very thankful for our kitties who make me laugh everyday.

Saturday mornings 7 miler before the half marathon came with a stunning sunrise. It’s funny how I always have trouble actually GETTING OUT of bed, but never ever regret when I am out there early. It’s my favorite time of day.

The race started later than most (9am!), so I didn’t have to get up super early to get in my “warmup” miles. It was also so HOT during the race (we’re back to Summer here with 88* as the high on Saturday). I’ll have my race recap up on the blog for you tomorrow!

Post 20 mile run, we took my Gram mini-golfing for her first time EVER! This course at Pirate’s Cove was crazy-hard and I only managed one hole-in-one?!?

And we closed out the weekend with Brady chasing a bee outside the porch windows.

Anyone else love to mini-golf?

Favorite time for a race to start? -> I really love a 7am start (especially for the marathon)! It feels amazing to be done in time to still catch a good breakfast!

Anyone else an afternoon caffeine consumer?
